Following on from James Daly’s talk about his grandfather’s experience at Arnhem and Stalag XI B I have just heard a gentleman from Winchester on Radio 4′s Saturday Live who was also at Arnhem, captured and ended up in Dresden, experiencing the Allied bombing that destroyed the city and killed 50,000 civilians. New Forest bombing range

 

The New Forest played host to a multitude of military activity during World War 2. In the past sixty-odd years much of the vegetation has grown over the scars and structures that were left.
