I got a mail from ARRSE today which had a link to the Big Curry site  which read: “ Great opportunity to combine two favourite activities; eating curry & raising money for a good cause!”  So of course I had to click the linky and go and have a look

Had a look? What do you think?

I reckon that the club can provide some or all of the ingredients, we can use at least one of the two known Sankey field kitchens in the club, have a variety of curries cooked by a variety of talented amateur chefs and with everyone else bringing along chutneys and saolads and poppadums and chapatis and pickles and a bottle or two we could have a really good time AND raise some money that the Army Benevolent Fund could put to really good use.

The alternative is just to go out to a ruby house or even sit around and eat takeaways but I can’t see that being quite as satisfying. Judging by the response to our Extreme Gardening meeting there is ceetainly a great deal of enthusiasm in the club, if we can harness that to organise an open air meal it should be quite an occasion.

What we are lacking as I write this is a date to hold the Big Curry and a venue. A certain ex-Social Secretary (no further details to spare the guilty) has suggested her back garden but that may prove a little small. I was thinking of the farm that I rent, hold it as a farewell party. There is a barn to shelter in if it is raining but no toilet facilities apart from several score of fields.

We don’t want to hold it on a public open space as all sorts of permissions and licences will be required, similarly Thorney requires an expensive licence from MoD Estates unless we hold the event in the salubrious surroundings of the old skip area, now our vehicle park.

If you have any suggestions, recipes or ideas please contact me via this linky
