Here’s your chance to get out of the house, get fresh air and exercise and thoroughly enjoy yourself in a festival atmosphere. Sounds good? Then read on …The venue is Wickham Square, the time is early and the attraction is a large, crowded unregulated vehicle show. Tractors and custom cars sit cheek by jowl with military vehicles and scooters. Classic cars compete for space with modern motorcycles, American cars with veterans. The golden rule for exhibitors is “if it’s interesting – show it”.

No one organises or is responsible for this gathering. It is a tradition that has grown from, so legend has it, a Boxing Day run by a handful of motorcycle enthusiasts.  A flash mob that came into being years before the mobile phone. For the spectator it has such a diversity of vehicles that there is something to interest everyone. A great place to meet old friends and meet new ones; also a great place to publicise our club and the OVERLORD show.

The square begins to fill around 8 am and by 9 there is little room though it always seems possible to squeeze one more vehicle in somewhere. Spectators are advised to park elsewhere in Wickham and walk. The crowds persist until, strangely, around pub opening time. A great way to build up an appetite for a second crack at the turkey.
